Jon Shoop, a triathlete from Reno, wins Rock-N-River marathon in his hometown.

There was no victory dinner, celebration champagne or even a family gathering for the winner of Sunday’s marathon.

Reno’s Jon Shoop, who completed the 26.2-mile course in 2 hours, 43 minutes, 6.2 seconds, planned to follow his winning run at Sunday’s Rock-N-River marathon with a bike ride.

“It felt really good to get out there and win it,” Shoop said.

Shoop, who is also a triathlete, had hoped to run faster.

The 24-year old also won the marathon in 2009 and was second last year to Sean Stafford.

“If Sean had been here, I think he would have beat me today. I just wasn’t feeling all that strong,” Shoop said. “I don’t think I could have run any faster.”
