Defending Toyota Cup Champion Reed earned his position with a fourth place finish at the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon (6/27) in Philadelphia, Penn. and a win at last weekend’s Lifetime Fitness Triathlon in Minneapolis, Minn.

Ellis’ lead comes thanks to a fifth place finish in Philadelphia, followed by a third place finish in Minneapolis.

Last year’s Toyota Cup winner on the women’s side, Sarah Haskins, is in a tie for third place despite the win in Minneapolis because she did not race in Philadelphia.

There are four remaining races in the series. They include the Nautica New York City Triathlon (7/18), the Chicago Triathlon (8/29), the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon (10/3) and the Toyota U.S. Open Triathlon in Dallas (10/10).
