American professional triathlete Tim O’Donnell announced today that he is seeking a cyclist and runner to join him on a relay team at the full-distance Challenge Atlantic City on June 29. The two slots will be auctioned off, with the proceeds benefiting Team RWB.

O’Donnell will swim the opening 2.4-mile leg, before handing it off to an auction winner who will complete the 112-mile bike section. Finally, another auction winner will run the marathon and finish on the Atlantic City boardwalk.

The relay slots will be auctioned on eBay, with the auction opening on May 22 and closing on May 27. All of the money will go to the Team RWB organization, which “works to transform the reintegration of wounded veterans into society through sport and social engagement.”

“We think of triathlon as an individual sport, but it’s also an incredibly supportive community working together to encourage and celebrate one another,” O’Donnell said in a press release. “Racing as part of a relay team in a Challenge Family event to raise funds for the courageous veteran athletes of Team RWB, embraces this idea. I’m looking forward to a great swim at Challenge Atlantic City, passing my timing chip to my teammate in T1, and then cheering on my team and all the athletes on the course.”

“Team RWB is fortunate and proud to count Timothy O’Donnell as a member, coach, and adviser of our organization,” Blayne Smith, Executive Director of Team RWB stated. “We are so thankful to Tim and his sponsors for their generous support and for allowing us to be a part this great event.”
