Get to know the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon course at one of two clinics in 2014. Prior to the 34th annual race in June, there will be an Escape Academy clinic for both the first-time participant and race veterans with course previews. By completing the Escape Academy, athletes will qualify and are eligible to enter the 2014 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon (participants will be responsible for the race entry fee in addition to the clinic fees). Clinics are led by Eric Gilsenan, a 25-year veteran of the race and staff coach of the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.

Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon Veterans Clinic

Feb 22, 2014, $480

This clinic is for triathletes who have completed the race in the past 10 years, but still need to qualify for entry into the 2014 race.

It will run from 7am to 3pm and include a modified Alcatraz swim into St. Francis Yacht Club, plus a full ride and run of the actual course. Also included is a detailed course review talk, goodie bags and lunch following the completion of the course.

Escape From Alcatraz First-Timer Clinic

March 8, $480

This Escape Academy is designed for the triathlete who has received an entry via the lottery, but has never done the event before. It is the perfect opportunity to learn a great deal about the event and take a practice run through the challenging course prior to race day.

The clinic (7am to 4pm) will include a swim from Alcatraz to St. Francis Yacht Club, followed by the full bike and run course. Also included is a detailed course review talk, goodie bags and lunch following the completion of the course.

Clinics will be limited to the first 20 triathletes who qualify for the clinics. For more information or to register, click here. Or to reach coach Eric, email him at eegilsenan@aol.com.

Please note that these clinics are not designed for the new or rookie triathlete.
