On Saturday April 16 at Camp Pendleton north of San Diego, about 900 happy campers participated in the Devil Dog Duathlon. It’s the perfect event. Your $45 entry fee-yep, only $45- goes to support the recreation programs on the base for our troops and you get to run 5K, ride 18 miles and run another 5K in one of the prettiest spots around. You can personally thank our troops for their service-they participate and serve as volunteers—plus you’ll get in a great catered workout. Camp Pendleton is famous for their four mud runs-each sells out with 3,000 mud loving crazies in about a nanosecond- plus a sprint triathlon that finishes on a Hover Craft, the Heartbreak Ridge Half Marathon that is primarily off-road, the Bulldog Bike Race and the Buffalo Alley 10K and 5K.
