Seven defending national champions are slated to return to New York City on Aug. 7

For the second straight year, nearly 70 top U.S. paratriathletes are scheduled to compete at the 2011 Accenture USA Paratriathlon National Championship, set to take place Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Nautica New York City Triathlon.

Athletes will compete for national championship titles and Team USA spots for the 2011 ITU Paratriathlon World Championships in six different paratriathlon categories. There also will be a number of athletes competing in the Physically Challenged Division, created last year to meet the needs of newcomers to the sport.

In order to qualify for Team USA for the ITU Paratriathlon World Championships in Beijing, China, on Sept. 9, athletes must compete in the national championship wave and must cover the Olympic-distance (1.5k-40k-10k) course in less than four hours. Visit usatriathlon.org for more information on the qualification process.

Seven defending national champions are slated to return to New York City as well as defending world champion Melissa Stockwell, along with nine other members of the 2011 USA Paratriathlon National Team.
