American triathlete Jarrod Shoemaker ran in the Carlsbad 5000 in Carlsbad, Calif. on Sunday, April 3.

Shoemaker finished the “world’s fastest 5K” in a time of 14:12. The time was good enough for ninth-place overall. He will now head to Sydney, Australia to compete in the opening race of the 2011 ITU World Championship Series next weekend.
