Triathlete Magazine has confirmed that Ironguides founder Marc Becker has died. The details of his death are unknown.
After balancing his professional triathlon career with a full-time career in IT and finance for several years, Becker founded Ironguides in 1999 with the goal of making simple, effective training methods available to both accomplished and beginning triathletes. At the time of his death, Becker was working as a full-time coach for Ironguides in Lagos, Portugal and contributed monthly training articles to Triathlete Magazine.
Ironguides coach Sergio Borges had this to say on the passing of his colleague:
“Marc Becker was a visionary with a passion for the sport and his business. We are going to miss a great coach/entrepreneur that was not afraid to stir the traditional triathlon beliefs with controvertial but simple ideas of training. I was fortunate to have Marc as a business partner and friend for just over a year and I will miss him.”
