HFP Racing and Monmouth County Tourism have announced plans for this exciting event for the 2011 race season, to be started at the Sandy Hook U.S. Coast Guard Base – in and around the communities of Monmouth County – and finishing at the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, New Jersey.

“We are excited to have attracted this fantastic event to Monmouth County which will showcase the Jersey Shore and the area that makes up this great region. Monmouth County New Jersey is a premier tourism destination. It is conveniently located between New York City and Philadelphia. It offers walkable downtowns, attractions and entertainment. We have wonderful hotels and Bed and Breakfasts, spas that will pamper you, and numerous restaurants that will suit any taste,” said Jeanne DeYoung, Director Monmouth County Tourism.

The Jersey Shore International Triathlon features an olympic distance triathlon that is attracting an international field of professional triathletes battling for a piece of the $30,000 prize purse, along with 2,000 amateur triathletes from across the country. The event will be staged in the backdrop of the New York City skyline on the historic U.S. Coast Guard base at Sandy Hook. Participants will be treated to a 1.5k swim in the protected waters of Sandy Hook Bay, followed by a 40k point-to-point bike ride on a spectacular course that rolls through the pristine neighborhoods of Monmouth County. The event will be capped off with a 10k run along the boardwalk and culminating with a grand finish in front of the Ocean Place Resort.

“The Jersey Shore International Triathlon will attract elite athletes to top age-groupers and weekend warriors. The Jersey Shore International Triathlon will truly be a special event for all participants, spectators, and the surrounding communities,” said Shannon Kurek, Founder – HFP Racing.
