After stopping in Napa Valley, Calif this weekend the HITS Triathlon Series will next head to Marble Falls, Texas.
The HITS triathlon series has a full triathlon, plus shorter events, scheduled the weekend of April 28-29. There’s something for all ages, including a free starter-level event.
Race director Mark H. Wilson is a highly-accomplished triathlete and coach with more than 20 years of experience. Wilson has competed in a number of top-level triathlons, and talked about why HITS chose Marble Falls for the site of one of 10 events leading up to a championship at the end of the year.
“First, it’s beautiful,” Wilson said. “Next, we were looking for a large lake. We first saw Lake Travis, but were afraid it had too many boats on it for swimming.”
Another thing was the area itself, he said.
“The area is great. It has a small town flavor,” he said. “It’s exactly the kind of area we want to be associated with.”
