While in Bermuda last week, four-time Ironman world champion Chrissie Wellington broke and dislocated her fourth toe.
“I was actually doing an open-water photo shoot in Bermuda, and my foot slipped off a concrete ramp coming up from the beach,” she said. “Total Muppet!”
She had planned to race an eight-day challenge starting this Sunday to raise money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, a nonprofit started by the late Jane Tomlinson that raises funds for children’s and cancer charities. The challenge included running the Paris Marathon, cycling 1000K, then running the London Marathon.
Now, she’ll be unable to run the marathons, but she’ll still take part in the cycling portion of the challenge. She tweeted this morning: “Broken toe means I won’t run the marathons for @Janesappeal challenge but I’ll do the 1000km cycle, even if I have to pedal with one leg!”
