Felix Walchshöfer, CEO of Team Challenge GmbH, the global series of long distance triathlons, today refuted the article published on a German triathlon web site that claimed the Challenge Series had been bought out by owners of the Ironman brand, WTC.

Walchshöfer said the successful series was not sold and there was no contract between himself and WTC.

“This article is blatantly untrue – Challenge remains Challenge,” said Walchshöfer. “The best decision my father made was to make Challenge Roth independent of Ironman and the success can be seen with the establishment of eight respected events throughout the world with plans to continue the growth in the near future. The Challenge Series has broken a monopoly, to the benefit of both the sport of long distance triathlon and the athletes.”

The article was written by Kai Baumgartner and legal action has been taken against him by Team Challenge GmbH.

The Challenge Family features full and half distance events in Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Denmark and New Zealand. For further information visit Challenge-family.com.
