Triathlete Magazine has confirmed that two-time Ironman world champion Chrissie Wellington has severed her coaching relationship with Simon Lessing.

“She’s going to have to figure out what she wants to do. You’ll need to ask her,” Lessing said in a phone interview. Lessing would not comment further.

Formerly a member of TeamTBB and coached by Brett Sutton through her second victory in Kona in 2008, she initially left the team to work with Cliff English, coach of Sam McGlone, but in December announced she would be working with Lessing, former ITU world champion and one of the most successful Olympic-distance racers in triathlon history.

This news comes just weeks after her record-breaking performance at Quelle Challenge Roth, and just a few months before she reaches the shores of Hawaii to challenge her title for a third time.
