ACHIEVE Kids Tri Inc. has launched a 2011 summer program that allows kids to experience the swim/bike/run lifestyle. Provided free of charge, children will be taken through a six-week fitness program with counselors and coaches teaching them triathlon skills and how to live a healthy life.

The 2011 summer camp will take place this coming week Monday through Friday at four sites around Wash. D.C.: the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center, the Benning Park Community Center, the Deanwood Community Center and Ferebee Hope Recreation Center.

On the final day of camp, the children will compete in a triathlon sanctioned by USA Triathlon. It will include a 100m swim, 5K bike and 2K run. They will receive a sanctioned triathlon finish time, along with finishers’ medals and T-shirts.

Launched initially in Wash., D.C., the program has expanded to Houston, Waterbury, Conn. and Atlanta, Ga.
