How Bike-Friendly Is Your State?
Washington, Minnesota and Wisconsin top the League of American Bicyclists’ 2014 Bicycle Friendly State rankings.

According to the League of American Bicyclists’ 2014 Bicycle Friendly State ranking, Washington state is the best place to live for cycling enthusiasts for the seventh straight year. However, states like California, Minnesota, Maryland and Utah moved up in the rankings from 2013 thanks to more funding to build bike lanes, innovative mapping efforts and passing of new bike-friendly legislation. The ranking process is comprehensive, incorporating a point system based on a survey that covers topics such as legislation, policies, infrastructure, funding, education, encouragement and planning. The League of American Bicyclists is committed to promoting bicycling as a way to increase health, economic development and quality of life, and hopes that the least bikeable states for 2014 (Alabama, Montana, Kentucky, South Carolina and Kansas) will take notice.
