One-Hour Workout: Race Week Tempo Swim

This simple set is focused on starting out at the pace you swim in the frenzy of a start and settling into your race pace for any distance.

Every Tuesday we’ll feature a different coach’s workout you can complete in 60 minutes (or less!).

This week’s workout comes from coach Tom Manzi, a USAT Level II certified coach who has served as the regional manager for Joe Friel’s Training Bible Coaching. This simple race week set is focused on starting out at the pace you swim in the frenzy of a start line and settling into your natural race pace for any distance.

Warm-up
15 minutes easy

Main Set
4×300, with the first 200 of each set at an extremely hard pace, similar to your pace at the beginning of a sprint triathlon, and the last 100 settling into race goal pace Recover completely between each 300.

Cool-down
10 minutes easy
