Destination race travel can wreak havoc on your sleep pattern, but a few simple tips will help you battle jetlag and feel refreshed on race day.

Pack over-the-counter remedies such as JetZone (homeopathic tablets for jetlag prevention) and Source Naturals’ Melatonin (a naturally occurring hormone that aids sleep)—both available at Whole Foods—to battle travel-induced fatigue minus the foggy effects of prescription sleep meds.

Another international travel must-have is a lightweight 16-ounce capacity dual-voltage kettle, allowing you to brew hot tea to relax at bedtime or a steaming mug of coffee to kick into gear no matter when you rise—often outside hotel restaurant hours while your internal clock is askew. Get on the local schedule as soon as possible, but don’t deprive yourself if a nap beckons. Bottom line, you’ll need your rest, so say yes to sleep whenever you can.
