More than 70 of the fastest XTERRA racers on earth will line up this Sunday for the $100,000 showdown in Maui.
In his 15th Maui start, Middaugh captured the top spot on the podium and became the first American since 2000 to win the world title.
American Josiah Middaugh won the XTERRA U.S. Pro Series for the third straight year, and was runner-up in the world championship two of past three years. He comes to Maui this year with the confidence from a late-season winning streak: "I feel stronger than last year; I think I can do it."
Americans Josiah Middaugh and Suzie Snyder were impressive to earn the victories at Sunday's XTERRA East Championships.
It's the third time in four years Middaugh has won the race, while it's the first major XTERRA victory for Widney.
