Fights have broken out among Triathlete editors over the tasty samples of Barnana. The chewy, potassium-loaded banana bites, available in original or covered with dark chocolate, are certified organic—and seriously addictive.

The company was started by Caue Suplicy, a San Diego-based former professional triathlete. A native Brazilian, Suplicy uses a family recipe to partially dehydrate the bananas. The result is a delectable (especially the chocolate version) and super-healthy snack—these are no crunchy banana chips. The bananas are sourced from Brazil and Ecuador, and they’re excellent training nutrition. “They are great for before and after swim workouts but also perfect during rides,” says Suplicy. No more bruised bananas in your jersey pocket, and the snack has a shelf life of 16 months with no added preservatives. Due to the high potassium content (497mg per serving), he says some people even use them in long-course racing.

Barnana is currently available in several retailers on the West and East coasts, and online at Barnana.com. ($3.99 for original, $4.99 for chocolate)
