Five new sport chews to fuel your workouts—and satisfy your sweet tooth.
PowerBar Performance Energy Blasts
Orange is the newest flavor of these gel-filled chews (with a texture similar to soft-center candy) from PowerBar, and the flavor is very sweet, reminiscent of the Sunny Delight orange drink. The caffeine-free, easy-to-chew blasts contain 200 calories per serving, 46 grams of carbs (the most in this review) and 30 milligrams of sodium—but no other electrolytes. Also available in cola, lemon, raspberry and strawberry banana flavors. $2.19 for one-serving package, Powerbar.com
Honey Stinger Energy Chews
Naturally caffeinated with 32 milligrams of white tea extract, the cherry cola flavor—Honey Stinger’s newest—tastes more like cherry than cola (but would pair well with Coke on course!). The texture was a little sticky, not surprising as honey is the third ingredient. It’s 95 percent organic, and each serving contains 160 calories, 39 grams of carbohydrate, 80 milligrams of sodium, 40 milligrams of potassium and 60 milligrams of vitamin C. $2.19 for one-serving package, Honeystinger.com

Gatorade Endurance Carb Energy Chews
We loved the flavor and easy-to-chew texture of Gatorade’s Endurance chews, especially the fruit punch flavor (also available in orange), and we liked the idea of its four-chew sleeve to ease eating them on the go. The skinny packaging makes for compact carrying, but the chews don’t slip out of the package as easily as we’d expect. Each serving contains 120 calories, 31 grams of carbs, 105 milligrams of sodium and 50 milligrams of potassium. $1.29 for one-serving package, Gatorade.com
ProBar Bolt Organic Energy Chews
The first non-bar product made by ProBar, Bolt chews are USDA-certified organic and gluten-free. Available in four flavors, we liked the taste of orange best (if you’re looking for caffeinated chews, though, Berry Blast and Raspberry both have caffeine from yerba mate). The chews slide out of the package easily but, like any of these options, might leave you with sticky fingers. Each serving has 90 calories, 24 grams of carbs, 60 milligrams of sodium, 45 milligrams of potassium plus B vitamins. $2.49 for two-serving package, Theprobar.com
Sharkies Turbo Energy Chews
The first caffeinated Sharkies chew resembles a shark-shaped Sour Patch Kid with its sugary coating, but it’s actually sweet—just don’t let the kids get a hold of them. The chews are made with all organic, vegan, gluten-free ingredients, including white tea-derived caffeine (equivalent to a half shot of espresso). Each serving contains 90 calories, 24 grams of carbs, 45 milligrams of sodium and 20 milligrams of potassium. $1.69 for 1.5-serving package, Sharkiesinc.com
