Triathlete Editor Brad Culp was the first to try the Shimano Di2 electronic group.

After a truly lazy off-season, I had every intention of skipping Ironman 70.3 California, which in the past has been my annual tri-season kick-off. That was until the boys at Shimano offered me the opportunity to be the first triathlete to race with their highly-anticipated Di2 electronic group. Lack of fitness be damned: I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. While my race at Oceanside as a whole was a disaster, experiencing a perfect shift made it all worthwhile. Here’s a photo gallery of Di2’s debut. Look for a complete review in Triathlete’s August issue (our annual high-tech issue), which hits newsstands in July.
