Using their EVA midsole in place of any high-end “everun” fancy foam, expect a slightly more structured and responsive ride than some of Saucony’s cushier offerings. On that note, this is a shoe for efficient and mid to lightweight athletes who don’t need a ton of guidance or support—when compared to a regular trainer. When compared to a racing flat, the Saucony Fastwitch 9 does actually provide enough for most athletes—particularly up to the half-iron distance. Above that, iron-distance triathletes who want to wear the Fastwitch should consider themselves a fairly efficient runner without too many stability issues. A super grippy outsole is a rare treat for triathletes who typically slip and slide at aid stations.
