Founded by former collegiate runners Dave Spandorfer and Mike Burnstein, Janji is a running apparel company with a conscience. For each item the company sells, a portion of the proceeds goes to partner organizations to fund food and water causes in seven countries around the world. For example, by purchasing a “Run for Peru” Short-Sleeve shirt ($36, Runjanji.com), you’ll be giving three months of clean water to a person in Peru through the organization Water For Life International. Or for every purchase of a Haiti Flag Long-Sleeve shirt ($44), a malnourished child in Haiti will receive eight packets of peanut butter-based nutritional medicine through the organization Meds and Food for Kids. Janji also supports initiatives in Bangladesh, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and the United States. So far, through the sales of its products, Janji has given more than $35,000 to partnering organizations.
