Valued at more than $500, the gear bag given to participants at the first ever Triathlete Magazine Training Camp, kicking off this week in San Diego, is filled with the editors’ favorite products. The bag will prepare the athletes for their three days of training in San Diego with the magazine’s editors and professional triathletes, and racing TriRock San Diego this Sunday.

For the swim:

Campers are receiving their gear in the brand new TYR Wet/Dry Backpack ($80, Tyr.com), which has a 27-liter capacity, perfect for keeping track of your wetsuit, goggles, swim cap, towel and valuables, and features a convenient roll-top closure to make it smaller and even more portable. It keeps water from seeping in—making it a dry place to keep your valuables while working out—and it keeps water from leaking out, so you don’t have to worry about transporting your damp towel or wetsuit. For training, the new neoprene Blueseventy Core Shorts ($100, Blueseventy.com) are a handy tool for practicing correct body position in the pool by simulating the buoyant-hip feeling you get from wearing a wetsuit, and the TYR Hydrofoil Ankle Float ($20, Tyr.com) slips on your ankles for added resistance (read complete reviews of both products in the November 2014 issue of Triathlete). Campers will also be receiving a pair of Blueseventy goggles (Blueseventy.com) and the new Sheila Taormina book Swim Speed Strokes for Swimmers and Triathletes ($22, Velopress.com) to help them dial in their swim strokes.

For the bike:

Campers will be tackling rides with a former Ironman world champion as well as a pro cyclist, and the Assos Chamois Crème (Assos.com) and two pairs of Assos Duathlon Socks will keep them comfortable for hours in the saddle. They also might want to throw on a pair of Triathlete-branded arm warmers to keep them warm on chilly San Diego mornings.

For the run:

Campers will be receiving a Soleus GPS watch ($99, Soleusrunning.com)—either the GPS Mini for the women or the GPS Fit for the men. Both feature simple-to-use interfaces and can track your speed, distance and pace. The Camelbak Podium Ice bottle (Camelbak.com) will keep athletes’ drinks cold during runs this week in San Diego’s unseasonably warm weather, while Wrips Wipes (Wripswipe.com) will help them to clean up after especially sweaty workouts.

For fueling:

The gear bag will be keeping athletes hydrated and fueled all week long. It starts with the Nuun Active 4-Pack ($24, Nuun.com), which features four refreshing flavors of Nuun’s Active Hydration tablets to help campers keep up with their electrolytes while the Nuun Energy Sampler Pack ($20, Nuun.com) uses caffeine, B vitamins and a few carbs to help fuel workouts. The great-tasting Infinit Mud ($35, Infinitnutrition.com) contains a mix of natural ingredients—like coffee and flaxseed—and is tasty mixed with almond milk as a pre-workout drink or even mixed into a post-workout smoothie. The editors are also fans of the Infinit GoFar and Isis sports drinks (for men and women, respectively), especially for long rides. Campers will also be able to munch on the newest flavor of Honey Stinger waffles (gingersnap), and Honey Stinger’s newest caffeinated gels (strawberry kiwi and chocolate) and Honey Stinger’s energy chews (Honeystinger.com), as well as Health Warrior Chia Bars (Healthwarrior.com), seasonal flavors of Clif Bars (Clifbar.com) and stay hydrated with Skratch Labs Daily Hydration Mix (Skratchlabs.com).

And more!

Campers will also be receiving the latest issue of Triathlete magazine, either Women’s Running magazine (for women) or Velo magazine (for men), a one-year subscription to Triathlete magazine, a training plan, samples of Endurance Shield sunscreen (Enduranceshield.com), a swim stroke evaluation at SwimLabs and an exclusive 65% off discount on Rudy Project gear.
