The Draw: Extra Space Galore

While it’s a bike case by definition, the Velo Safe is more like a garage. Internal dimensions are a massive 48”x 26.7”x 15”, and bike loading is a breeze. Wheels, bars, and stem are removed, but pedals can stay on. A fork mount with quick-release secures the front, and the bottom bracket rides on a massive foam pad with Velcro straps to grab the chainstays; wheels go on either side of the frame, and we had it loaded in 15 minutes. Then it’s just a matter of how much gear you want to throw inside. The Velo Safe Original can easily accommodate a wetsuit, running gear, and nutrition for a week. The case weighs 35 pounds, so it’s pretty easy to breach the overweight bag fee, but at least you will fly with relative piece of mind, as the polyethylene walls protect your investment, and the lockable steel latches keep it secure.
