Like most pros, Ben Hoffman chose to run a disc rear wheel for the flat and fast course in Boulder. It looks like he forgot to place the aero sticker over the drive side.
Ben Hoffman takes advantage of his Specialized Shiv’s Fuelsalage to run a very clean front end.
Ben Hoffman prefers the Specialized S Works road shoe over the Tri Vent.
The dueling Trek Speed Concepts of Joe Gambles (No.1) and Greg Bennet (No.2)
Greg Bennett’s Trek Speed Concept was fully decked out with Campagnolo components and a disc rear that appears to be a re-branded LightWeight.
The Campy Bora Ultra crankset is designed to be stiff and aero.
Kiwi James Seear’s crankset is a mash up of a Shimano Dura Ace Crank with an SRM powermeter and Osymetric chainrings.
Eventual winner Jodie Swallow runs an aggressive position on her Scott Plasma.
Swallow also gets an award for a minimalist and clean transition area.
Men’s winner Joe Gambles’ Trek Speed Concept is ready for when he returns from the swim.
One of the last pros to arrive, Gambles was also the last to leave transition. That didn’t seem to affect him, though, as he took home his fourth Boulder 70.3 title.
Early morning temps were in the low 50’s as athletes got ready. Local pro Jordan Jones was ready for the chilly morning though he did not actually wear the cap during the race.
Jones was one of only a few athletes to have bars and gels taped to his bars.
The bright colors of Leanda Cave’s Canyon Speedmax CF are hard to miss. Passing by, Michael Lovato commented that it reminded him of some old Nike gear he had in the 80’s.
Leon Griffin’s Argon E118 has the bars set to their downward position for an aggressive drop when out on the bullhorns.
Griffin gets his power numbers from his Stages power meter.
Paul Ambrose’s Dura Ace Crank could use some love.
Ambrose uses Vision’s Metron 3 spoke wheels and Metron front derailleur.
Rachel Joyce’s interesting choice of placement for her number on her Cervelo P5.
Second place finisher Tim Don uses the FuelCell of his Specialized Shivto hold his nutrition secure.
Don is running the new SRAM RED 22 and has a Power2Max power meter on his SWorks cranks. The former ITU star is used to the Trivent shoes.
Don runs a CeramicSpeed pulley to reduce friction.
