The Draw: Sensibly Fast
The HED Jet 4 Black wheelset is a mid- depth aero wheelset built on a 21mm-wide (internal) aluminum rim with a bonded carbon aerodynamic fairing. HED’s reputation holds true, as these are dependable wheels that go fast, roll super smooth, and brake well in all conditions. These wheels aren’t featherweight and aren’t tubeless compatible, but if you can get past that, they are great wheels for most any condition. The Jet 4 Black would be ideal for a technical race where braking confidence is an advantage and extra-deep wheels won’t offer you an edge. Before you buy, consider that the delicate carbon fairings prevent you from storing the bike by a wheel hook or strapping down the wheels on your car’s roof rack, and that the extra-wide rims may cause tire rub on some frames.
