The Draw: Ghost-Like Weight
Giro’s latest is light. At 150 grams, it’s like cardboard light. Unlike the other shoes we reviewed, the Prolight Techlace is not a tri-specific model but rather a great substitute for long-coursers more worried about weight and fit than a few extra seconds in T1. Once set up properly, it’s very quick to get the foot in and secure for transition, but no loop on the heel and inward opening straps might not be ideal for on-bike transitions—but still possible. The Prolight’s sockless feel means riding barefoot is no problem. The super light mesh design is best for warmer climes, or worn in conjunction with shoe covers on crisper days. A very cool included swappable insole system gives a more custom fit without the need for additional orthotics.
