Garmin Edge Explore

The Draw: Full-color touchscreen for less

For triathletes who may not be deep into data, but instead value map routing, basic functions, and a solid color touchscreen, Garmin’s Edge Explore is a great choice. This unit does not hook up to power sensors, like most GPS cycling computers in this category, but 16GB of offline map storage, a surprisingly long battery life, and general functions like Bluetooth light control, smartphone notifications, and a cycling course creator make this a good unit for everyday riding. The large screen and adjustable touch sensitivity mean the Edge Explore has some of the best hardware available, as long as users don’t mind the limited scope of its sensor library.
