Belgium’s Marino Vanhoenacker turned in a dominating performance to take his fifth straight win at Ironman Austria. On the women’s side, Austria’s Eva Dollinger ran a steady race to claim the women’s title.

Vanhoenacker emerged from the swim in fourth position. From there he quickly took the lead on the bike and never looked back. His 47:49 swim, 4:18:30 bike and 2:42:03 marathon easily gave him the win and an amazing time of 7:52:05, which is the fourth-fastest Ironman time ever posted. Another Belgian, Dennis Devriendt, finished in second more than 20 minutes later at 8:12:51. Austria’s own Michael Weiss finished third in 8:14:50.

Dollinger spent the entire day out front of the women’s race, posting solid times in all three disciplines to take the win in 9:18:50. Denmark’s Karina Ottosen finished second, with age grouper Beate Görtz finishing in third.
