Twelsiek, Arendt Take Victories At Ironman Wisconsin

Germany’s Maik Twesliek and the United States’ Jackie Arendt came out on top at today’s Ironman Wisconsin in Madison.

Though the pro fields weren’t particularly deep with the 2013 Ironman World Championship qualifying season behind us, there were a few big names who came out to try their hands at one of Ironman’s most iconic courses in North America.

Twelsiek was ninth out of the water (52:38), first off of the bike (4:34:58) and first to the finish the run (3:06:09), earning the win in a time of 8:40:15. American Daniel Bretscher was second thanks to a 2:57:26 marathon. Canada’s Elliot Holtham claimed third with a well-rounded day across the three disciplines.

Arendt was third out of the swim (57:00), third off of the bike (5:27:30) and first to complete the run (3:16:03), giving her the 9:47:07 victory. American Beth Shutt was second in 9:53:42, with fellow American Malaika Homo rounding out the podium at 9:58:49.
