Thomas, Hoogland Take Victories At 70.3 Pocono Mountains

The United States’ Jesse Thomas and Canada’s Tenille Hoogland earned the wins at Sunday’s Ironman 70.3 Pocono Mountains in Stroudsburg, Penn.

The United States’ Jesse Thomas and Canada’s Tenille Hoogland earned the wins at Sunday’s Ironman 70.3 Pocono Mountains in Stroudsburg, Penn.

Thomas combined a 21:59 swim, 2:10:32 bike and race-best 1:14:49 half marathon to cross the finish line in first at 3:49:41. American Jordan Jones also had a well-paced day to finish in second more than four minutes later. Germany’s Maik Twelsiek rounded out the podium in third.

Hoogland dominated the swim (21:56) and bike (2:27:59) and turned in a respectable run (1:31:08) to lead wire-to-wire and earn the 4:23:52 victory. American Amber Ferreira finished second, with another American Beth Shutt claiming third.
