Switzerland’s Ronnie Schildknecht and Karin Thürig won today’s Ironman Switzerland race in Zürich.

Schildknecht’s 8:12:40 victory came thanks to a dominating performance made up of a 50:29 swim, 4:29:10 bike and 2:51:04 run. The second place male finisher, Swen Sundberg of Germany, crossed the line nearly 17 minutes after Schildknecht. The final podium placer was Mike Aigroz of Switzerland.

Thürig overcame a slow 1:08:29 swim to dominate on the bike and run and take the overwhelming 9:00:04 win. 2008 Ironman Arizona winner Heleen Bij De Vaate of the Netherlands finished at 9:23:50 for second, with Switzerland’s Monika Lehmann taking third.
