The United States’ Andrew Starykowicz and Denmark’s Helle Frederiksen repeated at the Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico triathlon in San Juan today.
Starykowicz put together a 24:15 swim, a 2:02:14 bike and a 1:22:51 run to claim the 3:53:30 victory. He held off a fast-running Will Clarke (GBR), who ultimately finished second. Germany’s Andi Boecherer finished in a distant third.
Frederiksen dominated the women’s competition, combining a 24:38 swim, a 2:18:49 bike and a 1:26:34 half marathon. Belgium’s Sofie Goos was second, with the United States’ Amanda Stevens claiming third.
