Colorado’s Flatiron Mountains provided a picturesque backdrop for athletes from around the world on Sunday, June 10, at the 2018 Ironman Boulder triathlon. Chris Leiferman (Longmont, Colo.) and Kirsty Jahn (Canada, residing in Boulder, Colo.) took the top honors with finishing times of 8:07:55 and 9:16:12, respectively.

Overall, the race saw nearly 1,500 athletes representing 33 countries and 48 states start the race. The swim took place in the calm waters of the Boulder Reservoir, while the multi-loop bike course contained within Boulder County featured several pronounced climbs that made for an adventurous ride. For the first time ever, T2 was held at the Boulder Reservoir where athletes set out on a winding run course through residential neighborhoods and the Boulder Creek Trail that provided opportunities for cheering from spectators and family members. The day ended with an electric finish along Pearl Street in downtown Boulder.
