American Gwen Jorgensen earned the top spot in the ITU World Triathlon Series rankings with a win at the sprint-distance London race. She stayed in the lead pack through the swim and bike before dominating the 5K run to earn the victory. The win was redemption after Jorgensen had disappointing performances at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2013 ITU WTS Grand Final in London. American Sarah Groff finished second and was moved to tears on the podium. She later tweeted “It took a couple of years and persistence, but I finally earned a podium in London. And yes, it moved me to tears. #WTSLondon”
