The elite men’s race at the ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final in Auckland, New Zealand came down to a thrilling sprint finish between Olympic medalists Jonathan Brownlee (GBR) and Javier Gomez (ESP). In the end it was Gomez who had the faster kick and he walked away with the race win. The second-place finish was easily enough to give Brownlee the series win and the world championship title.
