Up until this point, the biggest win in Ezequiel Morales’ career had been his Ironman Wisconsin victory in 2011. Morales took another Ironman title in Brazil on Sunday thanks to a fast run. The Argentinean explained to Ironman.com why this win meant so much. “This is the race that I have dreamed of winning, and it has been six years in the making,” explained Morales. “For South Americans, this race everyone wants to win, it is the race to win.”
Belgium’s Sofie Goos took the women’s title by taking the lead on the bike with a field-leading 4:59:24 split. She stayed out front throughout the marathon, taking the win in 9:17:42.
