Michael Raelert, Sarah Haskins On Top At 70.3 Miami

Germany's Michael Raelert and the United States' Sarah Haskins were victorious at today's Ironman 70.3 Miami in Florida.

Germany’s Michael Raelert and the United States’ Sarah Haskins were victorious at today’s Ironman 70.3 Miami in Florida.

Raelert combined a 21:23 swim, a 2:01:56 bike and a 1:17:46 half-marathon to claim the victory in 3:43:23. American Andrew Starykowicz was absolutely dominant on the bike—posting a 1:56:11 split—and led off of the bike but was ultimately passed by Raelert, putting him across the finish line in second at 3:45:52. Brazil’s Santiago Ascenco rounded out a closer battle for the final podium spot in 3:48:47.

Haskins led from start to finish in the women’s race, posting the fastest swim and bike splits in the process. Her day consisted of a 22:39 swim, a 2:18:50 bike and a 1:28:43 run, giving her the win in 4:12:57. Great Britain’s Leanda Cave ran her way from fourth off of the bike to second at the finish line in 4:18:32. Austria’s Michaela Herlbauer claimed third in 4:19:41.
