American Mary Beth Ellis sat down with Ironman and USAT Hall of Famer Bob Babbitt to chat about tomorrow’s Challenge Denmark race.
Ellis chats about several topics, including her decision to leave coach Siri Lindley and train in Europe with her former coach Brett Sutton.
“I finished 70.3 St. George and had to take a look in the mirror, the girls are ahead of me are all amazing athletes… It wasn’t a bad race, it just wasn’t what I thought I was capable of doing. I felt like I either needed to retire or make a change. I was at the point where I just wasn’t enjoying racing. I’d get to the halfway point of the run and just be miserable. This is such a hard job that if you’re not enjoying it—I loved the training with Siri and the group—but it was just the races I hated.”
