Germany’s Sebastian Kienle and Great Britain’s Leanda Cave turned in impressive performances to win today’s Ironman 70.3 Miami triathlon.

Kienle gave fellow countryman Michael Raelert a rare 70.3 loss thanks to an amazing 2:01:54 bike split. Kienle’s 1:13:53 half marathon was barely enough to hold off the two-time 70.3 world champ, giving him the win in 3:47:01. Raelert turned in the fastest run on the day, earning second in 3:48:01, just one week after his Austin 70.3 victory. American Matt Reed took the final podium spot, finishing in 3:49:37.

For the women, Great Britain’s Leanda Cave once again showed late-season resilience by turning in the fastest swim, bike and run to defend her Miami title just three weeks after her podium finish in Kona. Canada’s Magali Tisseyre earned second, with Great Britain’s Emma-Kate Lidbury finishing third.
