British Formula One driver Jenson Button will line up at Challenge Fuerteventura on April 26 with swim, bike, run on the agenda instead of his usual McLaren wheels.
Arriving as part of his triathlon team straight from the Chinese Grand Prix, Button is an avid triathlete as it is part of his training routine for the Formula One season.
While Button will fight it out in the age group rankings, the Challenge Fuerteventura pro field is headed by defending female champion and Olympic silver medalist, Lisa Norden. She is joined by Tamsin Lewis (GBR), Eimear Mullan (IRE) and Daniela Sämmler (GER).
The men’s field is 32 deep and includes European 70.3 champion Ritchie Nicholls (GBR), Patrik Nilsson (SWE), Markus Fachbach (GER) and Konstantin Bachor (GER).
Set against the dramatic volcanic backdrop of the Canary Islands, Challenge Fuerteventura features a tough course over the half distance centred round the well-known triathlon training centre of Playitas Sports Resort.
