The Island House Invitational Triathlon, to take place in the island of Highbourne Cay in the Bahamas in early November, is drawing a growing start list of some of the best long-course and short-course pros in the sport. This week, the race announced that some top names have been added to the start list.

On the women’s side, three-time Ironman world champion Mirinda Carfrae has accepted her invitation, as has defending Olympic champion Nicola Spirig. This will be the first match-up since the 2012 Olympics between the gold medalist, Spirig, and the two-time reigning ITU World Triathlon Series world champion Gwen Jorgensen. Also on the start list are up-and-coming short-course talent Rachel Klamer, who finished the WTS season ranked sixth in the world, and Olympic non-draft specialist turned 70.3 star Alicia Kaye, who won 70.3 races in Boulder and Calgary this season in addition to the New York Triathlon and TriRock Philadelphia.

Newly added to the men’s race is now five-time ITU world champion Javier Gomez as well as some of his top World Triathlon Series competitors, Richard Murray and Aaron Royle, all of whom have qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The race features a pro field limited to 20 athletes, a unique three-day format and one of the biggest pro prize purses in the sport (prize structure still to be announced). The inaugural race will take place Nov. 6–8 at The Island House in Nassau and on the private island of Highbourne Cay, Exuma. The race format will include individual time trials and races that mix up the traditional order and distances of swim-bike-run. Similar to the cycling model, the Island House Invitational will feature swim, bike, run and overall classification leader’s jerseys and prizes.
