Mark Allen’s 1989 (Iron War) 2:40:04 run course record stood for 27 years and he was on hand to watch Germany’s Patrick Lange break it by powering through the marathon in an impressive 2:39:45. After the race, Allen chatted with Triathlete.com about seeing the record broken, holding the finish line tape with Dave Scott (see the image below) and watching Tim O’Donnell (an athlete he coaches) race in Kona.
