Lieto Preparing For Kona In Mammoth Lakes

As he did in preparation for last year’s Ironman World Championship, American Chris Lieto is spending time training with some of the world’s top distance runners in Mammoth Lakes, Calif.

Lieto talked to ESPN.com about his goal of improving his run time. Lieto told ESPN’s Adam Watson he is going on several runs above 10,000 feet and thinks a Kona victory is possible: “The bar keeps getting raised, so it’s not going to get any easier because I finished second last year,” Lieto said. “But I definitely have the ability to take home the win.”
