The inaugural Ironman 70.3 Waco triathlon didn’t go as planned, with organizers having to cancel the swim due to a rate of water flow that was deemed unsafe for swimming. The 2,300 athletes from 20 countries and 45 states made the best of it, competing in a 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run. In the pro race, Andrew Starykowicz (USA) took the top honors behind a strong bike performance with a finishing time of 3:21:40 while Haley Chura (USA) finished first for the women in 3:45:48.
