Now that we’re entering the second half of the 2013 season, we polled the editors of the triathlon magazines to find out their favorite triathlon moments from the first half of the season.

Julia Polloreno, editor-in-chief of Triathlete magazine:
“It’s not really a moment, per se, but a highlight was Meredith Kessler’s back-to-back wins at Vineman and Lake Stevens after a nasty bike crash. The ultimate comeback story!”

Aaron Hersh, senior editor of Triathlete and Inside Triathlon magazines:

Liz Hichens, web editor of Triathlete.com:
“It didn’t get a lot of attention, but Mary Beth Ellis coming back from a bike crash during the race at Ironman France to win and earn a course record was very impressive.”

Bethany Mavis, associate editor of Triathlete and Inside Triathlon magazines:
“Waiting for Jesse Thomas at the finish line of 70.3 Oceanside to see him win his first Oceanside title, only to then see Andy Potts come around the corner after passing Jesse in the final 200 meters to take his fifth Oceanside title. That was clutch.”

Steve Godwin, senior video producer:
“Watching Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward go from the football field to a sub-six[-hour finish] at Ironman 70.3 Kansas is my biggest highlight. On the pro triathlete side, there have been some amazing performances, but I have to give it up to Heather Jackson for her early-season dominance with wins at Alcatraz, Oceanside 70.3 and Wildflower. She also finished second at Vineman 70.3. For the pro men I’d have to go with Eneko Llanos. He has two big wins at IM Melbourne and IM Frankfurt. Both of these athletes are on fire.”

Kim McDonald, features editor of Inside Triathlon magazine:
“Brent McMahon’s and Meredith Kessler’s wins at the St. George Ironman 70.3 U.S. Pro Championship. Both of them had the race of their careers against a deep field of Olympians and long-course world champions.”
