Dye, Kaye Win Life Time Tri Dallas

Americans Cameron Dye and Alicia Kaye earned the victories at today’s Life Time Tri Dallas race in Texas.

Americans Cameron Dye and Alicia Kaye earned the victories at today’s Life Time Tri Dallas race in Texas. The event used to be the series’ finale but served as the second-to-last race on the 2013 Life Time Tri calendar, with Life Time Tri Oceanside (set for Oct. 20) sitting as the new championship race.

Dye and Kaye have been dominant at the non-drafting Olympic-distance races in recent months, and today was no exception.

Men’s Race
Dye combined an 18:38 swim, a 54:55 bike and a 34:50 run to narrowly hold off second-place finisher Stuart Hayes of Great Britain, who posted similar splits but couldn’t quite keep pace with Dye. Dye crossed in first at 1:50:17, with Hayes following 25 seconds later. American four-time Olympian Hunter Kemper ran a blazing 10K (32:14), but was too far behind off of the bike to crack the top two. He finished a mere nine seconds behind Hayes.

Women’s Race
As it was in the previous series event in Tempe, the women’s race was a battle between training partners Kaye and Helle Frederiksen (DEN). Kaye once again dominated the bike and then barely held off a fast-running Frederiksen to earn the 2:00:22 win. Frederiksen crossed the finish line six seconds later, with American Lauren Goss rounding out the podium with the fastest run split of the women.
