Dye, Haskins Victorious At 2011 Nautica South Beach Triathlon

Americans Cameron Dye and Sarah Haskins turned in strong performances on the swim, bike and run to take the wins at the opening race of the 2011 Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series.

The 2011 Nautica South Beach Triathlon took place in Miami, Fla., on April, 10, 2011, which is part of the Life Time Fitness Triathlon Series. Taking the titles this year were Americans Cameron Dye and Sarah Haskins.

In warm weather and 77-degree temperature waters, professionals, age-groupers and celebrities were ready to begin. Pros took to the water for a no-wetsuit swim and experienced a delay of about nine minutes due to the equipment not set up properly in time. Out of the water first were Andy Potts and Sara McLarty, as expected.

Out on the bike course Cameron Dye, Andrew Yoder and Andy Potts were all jockeying for first place, maintaining a strong lead over the chase pack. For the women, McLarty led most of the 40K, but Haskins was able to catch up and both come into T2 together.

On the run, Dye stayed strong with a hard and fast run, able to hold off the competition, although Potts made a strong surge at the end. The top four men all finished within less than 60 seconds of each other.

On the female side, Haskins made her move to overtake McLarty who was unable to hang on and faded from the lead. Haskins dominated the run, almost catching up to some of the professional men, and crosses the finish line first.
