Two-time Ironman world champion Chris “Macca” McCormack has confirmed that he will line up in the sprint-distance event at next month’s TriRock Austin Triathlon in Austin, Texas. As is tradition for the event, the race will take place on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 2).

“I just love TriRock as it embraces everything I love about triathlon—the people, the venues, the competition and old-school racing,” McCormack said. “Just toe the line and have fun! And I simply love Austin. It’s an amazing city with so much to do. I’m always excited to get back to Texas!”

McCormack’s fall season is filling up quickly, as he also confirmed that he will be competing at the inaugural Challenge Penticton in Canada on Aug. 25. The 2007 and 2010 Kona champ has been quiet about his plans for the championship races and has yet to announce if he will compete at the Ironman World Championship on Oct. 8.

The Australian will be joined by more than 2,000 athletes at the festive event. Participants will swim in Lady Bird Lake, bike over the Congress Street Bridge and finish with a run along the Auditorium Shores running path.
